Residents are initially given limited responsibilities and are gradually given more complex tasks as they progress through their training. This approach helps to ensure that they are adequately trained and prepared to handle more significant responsibilities independently. As they gain more experience and expertise, they are given more autonomy and responsibility, ultimately leading to the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care. This gradual increase in responsibility helps to ensure patient safety while providing valuable training and experience for future medical practitioners. At COPA, during your PGY-1 year there is a strong focus on building your EM workflow and establishing the important fundamental knowledge of taking care of patients in the emergency room. During your PGY-2 year, you focus on increasing your volumes and seeing more high acuity patients. As you advance into your PGY-3 year, you focus on delegating the department to ensure patients are being moved where they need to go efficiently and fine-tuning your skillset before graduation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/12″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
